The 'U" is never pronounced in Japan so this would read Asaksa,which always reminded me of table salt. This is a highly touristic area where there are lots of shops which sell souvenirs,restaurants and bars that cater for the Gaijin tastes, as well as colourful stalls, dresses, pageants, bands, street food which embellish the area and add to the confusion.
